General Description

The Low Cost DAT1010 RTD Temperature Transmitter (Hockey Puck) is an RTD Head Mounted Temperature transmitter that is able to accept signals from RTD's. It can also convert mV, Resistance and Potentiometer into a 4-20mA signal. The DAT1010 "in head Mounted Temperature Transmitter" is PC Programmable. The sensor type, range, zero and linearization, is programmable with the Prodat software, available from DATEXEL.

The input is measured, linearized and converted and then scaled to the industrial standard of 4-20mA signal (2 Wire device).

The RTD sensor is selectable for Pt100, Pt1000, Ni100 or Ni1000.

The resistance input is selectable from 0-200, 0-500, 0-2000 Ohms.

The mV input is selectable from -100mV to 700mV with a minimum span of 2 mV.

The Potentiometer can accept resistance in the range of 0-200 Ohms, 200-500 Ohms and 0.5 to 2 k ohms.

The RTD and resistance can be 2 wire or use compensation wire to improve accuracy I.E. 3 or 4 wire. There is an option to program the burn out failure alarm on the 4-20mA signal to High (20mA) or Low (4mA). The power supply to the Temperature Transmitter has a high range of tolerance and can accept voltage between 10 and 32 Volt. The DAT1010 Temperature-Transmitter is Loop Powered (2 Wire).

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I use the DAT1010 as a Thermocouple Temperature Transmitter?
  • Yes, but there is no linearization for Thermocouples so the output would be linear to the mV input not temperature linear. Without temperature linearization the error will be above 5 ‘F. It would be advisable to use the DAT1015 where output is linear to temperature and also has ambient temperate compensation.
  • What should I use for a replacement for the DAT1111 and DAT1040?.
  • The DAT1111 was a DIP switch selectable RTD Temperature transmitter. It was made obsolete in 2011 as the DAT1010 was a very similar and lower cost option. The DAT1040 was a fixed range RTD Temperature Transmitter. Orders can placed with a specific range or customers can also purchase the Prodat USB to configure the DAT1010.
  • Is the Temperature Transmitter DAT1010 Isolated?
  • You have to use the DAT1061 or the DAT1066 if you require the output to be Isolated from the input. The DAT1061 is for RTD, mV, Potentiometers and resistance. The DAT1066 has the option for Thermocouple input.
