General Description

The DAT4530 is a 4 to 20mA Signal Splitter which converts any universal input signal into two analog outputs. The Input can be a Current (mA), Voltage (mV, Volts), Thermocouple, RTD, Resistance or Potentiometer. The output is selectable from Current (mA) or Voltage and can be different from each other i.e. Channel one output can be 4 to 20mA and Channel 2 output can be 0-10 Volts.
All round Galvanic isolation is standard so both outputs are galvanic isolated from each other and from the power supply and the input. This galvanic isolation will negate ground loop problems and reduce noise normally found in heavy industrial environments.
Full redundancy is enabled as each output does not affect the other output or the input even if the circuit is open circuited. The outputs are boosted so that they can drive into a load of 500 Ohms. The current input can be wired as a passive or active input meaning it can power up a 2 wire transmitter. The current output can also drive the 4 to 20mA or sink the 4 to 20mA. Sinking is normally used when connecting to a PLC or a Distributed Control System. An auxiliary power supply is also standard.
Options that are standard and only need selecting are Square root extraction, Linearization, Trip Alarm and high speed output.
The Signal Splitter is DIP switch programmable and PC Programmable.

Active 4-20mA Input. Positive Negative
Terminal F C

The Current input is Isolated from the Power Supply and the 2 Analog outputs. There are two option for mA input. The first option is if the DAT4530 Signal splitter is providing the 24 V dc power supply to power up the input transmitter. T this is called Passive input (sometimes called 2 wire).
The other option is called active input and here the field Instrument is providing the power for the Converter (sometimes called 4 wire).

Channel B S T

The Voltage Outputs of the Signal Splitter are Isolated from each other and the Input and Power Supply.

Active Current Output

Output. Positive Negative
Channel A M N
Channel B Q R

The 4-20mA Current output on these terminals are Active. This means that the DAT4530 actually provides the power from its own power supply.

Passive Current Output

Output. Positive Negative
Channel A N P
Channel B R T

The 4-20mA Current output on these terminals are Passive meaning that an external power supply is needed to drive the 4-20mA output.
