Current to RS485 converter DAT3017I
• Modbus RTU Slave.
• UL, CSA, CE.
• 8 x 4-20mA input.
• RS485 Communication.
General Description

The DAT3017-I Current to Modbus Converter is an 8-channel input module designed for acquiring current signals and transmitting them digitally over an RS-485 Modbus network. It converts the analog current input into a precise 16-bit digital format for integration with PLCs, SCADA, and other Modbus master devices.

Each channel supports a full-scale input of –20 to +20 mA and can be programmed for 0–20 mA or 4–20 mA operation. This makes the DAT3017-I suitable for monitoring multiple industrial sensors and transmitters simultaneously.

Communication is provided over RS-485 using the Modbus RTU protocol, with an option for RS-232 Modbus ASCII format. Configuration is performed using the free DAT3000–10000 software, downloadable from our website, which allows advanced setup and calibration.

Frequently Asked Questions about DAT3017-I

What is the DAT3017-I?
The DAT3017-I is an 8-channel Modbus converter for current signals, converting them into a 16-bit digital format over RS-485 (Modbus RTU) or RS-232 (Modbus ASCII).
What input ranges does it support?
Each channel accepts –20 to +20 mA and can be programmed for 0–20 mA or 4–20 mA inputs.
How many channels does it provide?
The module provides 8 independent current input channels, doubling the capacity of the DAT3015-I.
How is the DAT3017-I configured?
The DAT3017-I is configured exclusively via the free DAT3000–10000 software, downloadable from our website. It cannot be configured by DIP switches.
What is the resolution of the conversion?
The signals are digitized with 16-bit resolution, ensuring accuracy and stability.
How does it communicate?
The DAT3017-I communicates via RS-485 using the Modbus RTU protocol, and is also available in an RS-232 ASCII version.
What applications is it used for?
The DAT3017-I is typically used for integrating multiple analog current signals from industrial transmitters and sensors into PLCs, SCADA systems, and Modbus networks.
